Today the Evening Standard launches its schools football league - with backing from
Nike.
Following the success of the schools rugby competition, we are compiling a league drawn from schools in London and the South East in association with
www.SchoolsSports.com.
The league will appear on standard.co.uk, and there will be team of the month and team of the year awards for 1st teams, with prizes of special training shirts provided by
Nike.
The league is based on the accumulation of wins, ranking teams with the best playing record.
If your school's results are not fully shown, ask your school's sports teacher to visit
www.SchoolsSports.com where they will find details on how to become a member school and how to
enter fixtures and results for FREE to appear in the league.
If you wish to nominate your 1stXI team for the Team of the Month award please email
schoolsfootball@standard.co.uk with brief reasons why the team deserves the
award. It is not only the teams with the best playing records that win the
Team of the Month Nike training shirts, it could be the most improved school or a school which has overcome
various difficulties.
Conrad Anderson, Nike Town London Teamsports Coordinator said: "We are delighted to be involved with grass roots sports with
partners such as the London Evening Standard and SchoolsSports.com. We look forward to awarding the schools football Team of
the Month with their Nike training shirts. School and club teams wanting teamwear are always welcome to visit us to browse,
and use our kit-builder, at THE NIKE BOOTROOM at 236 Oxford Street."
